Getting to Tampere
Tampere is a city of 225 000 inhabitants, the largest inland city in the Nordic countries.
Tampere lies some 175 km north of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
To Helsinki airport there are direct flights from most major European cities and from many American as well as Asian cities. The journey time by train from Helsinki airport to Tampere is approximately 90-120 minutes depending on the train. You can catch a train directly from the airport terminal and there is one change (at Tikkurila station). The trains to Tampere are relatively frequent between 5 am and 11 pm, 1-2 trains per hour.
There is also a direct coach connection from the Helsinki airport to Tampere. The coach departs from in front of the terminal approximately every hour, and the journey takes about 2-2.5 hours.
Once you arrive at the Tampere railway or bus station, the conference venue and conference hotels are within 5-10 minutes walking distance.
Another alternative is to fly directly to Tampere Pirkkala airport, which lies 17 km from the city centre. There are direct flights to Tampere from Helsinki (30 minutes), from Stockholm (60 minutes) as well as some connections with Air Baltic and Ryanair.
From the Tampere Pirkkala airport to the city center you can take a normal taxi or an airport taxi that you share with other passengers. They will take you to any hotel in the city center. There is also a local bus connection available approximately once an hour during weekdays, please check separately for Saturday and Sunday.
